Podcast Cover System

Creating a unified podcast system across ten network shows

Overview

TYT Network wanted its growing lineup of podcasts to feel connected while preserving the unique identity of each show. I was tasked with designing podcast artwork for ten programs that would create a consistent visual experience across platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.

Rather than redesigning each show's branding, I developed a simple framing system that unified the network while allowing every program to retain its existing key art and personality.

The Challenge

Each show already had an established visual identity, making consistency the primary design challenge. The solution needed to communicate that every podcast belonged to TYT Network without diminishing the individuality of each program.

The artwork also had to remain recognizable and legible at the small sizes common on podcast platforms while meeting platform specifications.

Each show retained its own identity while sharing a common TYT Network visual system

The Solution

I designed podcast artwork for ten TYT Network shows, adapting existing show branding into a consistent 3,000 × 3,000 format for digital platforms. A simple black-and-yellow frame featuring the TYT logo became the unifying element across every cover, creating a cohesive family of brands while allowing each show's artwork to remain the focal point.

For flagship programs such as The Young Turks and The Damage Report, I incorporated host photography into the designs to better align with marketing goals. I also created reusable source files and transparent frame assets so future podcast artwork could be produced quickly while maintaining visual consistency. The system later accommodated updates such as refreshed host photography and temporary "Now with Video" badges without requiring the covers to be redesigned from scratch.

A reusable frame system unified every podcast while allowing each show's artwork to remain unique

Reflection

This was my first major assignment after joining TYT, and many of the covers remain in use today. Although the design solution was intentionally simple, it successfully unified ten different shows under a single network identity.

The project strengthened my understanding of designing for digital platforms, working with existing brand assets, and creating flexible systems that could evolve over time without sacrificing consistency.
